RWBY 是一部相当优秀的动作类动画。宏大的世界观，优秀的动作场面，好听的配音，即使是一部美国制作的动画却是浓厚的日本动画风格。
这部动画当中可圈可点的地方太多，其中一个自己觉得非常值得品味的是个中的台词。RWBY 当中的台词很多台词都很书面化，很多说法都是自己看过了才觉得原来还能这么说。选择并没有什么固定的标准，大概看到比较复杂的单词或者句型，以及一些平时没有用到的说法就记录一下。
这里先收集一下 RWBY Volume 01 的一些台词。
Episode 01 Volume 01 – Ruby Rose (Transcript)

Mankind has grown quite fond for counting the exploits of heroes and villains.
人类开始喜欢收集英雄与恶人的传说。
— Narration
奠定整部作品的初始旁白。用 fond for 来表示喜欢，自己看得明白但是平时少用。

The darkness was intent on returning man’s brief existence to the void.
黑暗力图让人类短暂的存在回归虚无。
— Narration
还是基本设定的旁白。表达打算或者想要的时候用 intent on 而不是普通的 want. 同时 return existence to the void 这样的说法看起来也有些厉害，自己只想到 erase existence 之类的。

And in time, man’s passion, resourcefulness, and ingenuity led them to the tools that would help even the odds.
然后随着时间流逝，人类的热情、富足以及智慧使得他们获得足以平分秋色的工具。

依然是描述人类历史的旁白。Lead somebody to something, 带领的引申义就是使得这些人获得某些物品，例如 “his persistence led him to this opportunity”. 而 even the odds 则是平分秋色势均力敌的意思。

In the shadow’s absence came strength, civilization, and most importantly, life.
暗影消失之际，随之而来的就有力量、文明，以及最重要的生命。

继续旁白。除了倒装之外，这里面用 in something’s absence 来表达没有，例如 “in the anxiety’s absence he finishes the book”.

You got a death wish or something?
你不想活了对吧？

打手在威胁 Ruby 的时候所说的。与其说 you want to die 不如就说 you got a death wish. 除此之外，or something 有些时候加在一些句子后面能强调一下。

You are worth every cent, truly you are.
你还真物有所值，真的。
— Roman
Roman 看到打手那么轻而易举地被打败，大概自己雇佣他们的钱本来也很少吧；每分钱都值得那就是物有所值了。而 truly you are 还能强调，随便找个句子 “it is a fine day today, truly it is” 都可以。

Persistent.
顽冥不灵。

Roman 准备撤离时还是被 Ruby 追上了。不是很特别的词语，但是配合厌烦的语气的话单字都能显得很有力量。

End of the line.
到此为止。
— Roman
Roman 把抢来的晶尘丢出去点燃然后说的这一句。铁路的终点那就到此为止，不要再跟过来了。

I was complete garbage before he took me under his wing.
他教我之前我完全就是个废物。

Ruby 在描述 Crow 是怎样教导自己的时候说的。师从某人原来还能说 somebody takes me under his wing.

面对 Ozpin 的邀请前往 Beacon Academy 的时候，Ruby 说的这句台词真的戳中了。与其说非常想，不如就直接地比其他任何想法都更加想了。

Ruby 在弄倒 Weiss 的东西之后，Weiss 就不停嘴地说了一大堆，最后就补充了这个。Sink in 还能表达听进去了。

你们两个只是开始的时候有些不顺利啦。

Yang 在给 Ruby 和 Weiss 重新介绍让她们和好。Get off on the wrong foot 大概就是不好的开始了吧。

这女孩不用想了。
— Yang
Ruby 和 Yang 想和 Blake 搭话，但是却被 Blake 拒绝，Yang 只好和 Ruby 说不用想 Blake 这个女孩了。Lost cause 来表示不用指望的东西。

She is a hazard to my health.
她危害我的健康。
— Weiss
Yang 对着 Weiss 说着 Ruby 只是想对她好，Weiss 就反驳说 Ruby 简直就在危害她的健康。说起伤害第一时间就会想到 hurt, 换成名词那就是 a hazard to 了。

Nora 和 Ren 说着这样的话。Odds 表达概率和可能性，比起 chance 要地道些。

真好奇他们都在兴奋些啥。

看着 Nora 和 Ren 那么激动，Ruby 也有些好奇。Worked up 来表示很兴奋或者很激动很生气之类的状态。

That sounds grand!
听起来很不错！
— Pyrrha
面对 Weiss 的组队邀请，Pyrrha 觉得很赞。比起 great, grand 就显得更加 great 了。

Maybe I could pull some strings, find a place for you.
说不定我还能牵桥搭线，给你找个位置呢。

而 Pyrrha 和 Jaune 搭话了之后，Jaune 反而向 Weiss 炫耀说自己还能给 Weiss 介绍。Pull some strings 表示施加影响进行干涉，以期达到想要的目的。

Pyrrha 对着 Jaune 说 nice to meet you, 而 Jaune 的回复就是这个。比起 me too 或者是没有那么常用的表达 same here, likewise 显得更加言简意赅一个单词就说完了。

让我们来消除你们的疑惑吧。

在大家开始进入森林之前 Glynda 向众人开始解释。解释清楚让别人明白除了 explain 之外还能让人家的疑惑给终结了，put an end to the confusion.

用自己的拳套 Yang 轻松落地。这个表达其实很常见不过自己都没有怎样用，用来表达事情妥当地完成了。

Weiss 即使在森林里面第一个遇到 Ruby 不得不承认对方是队友，但是还是不愿意承认对方成为了朋友。又用 by no means 表示否定又是倒装表示强调，Weiss 还真的强调各种不可能。

你动作是快但是你还是很擅长浪费时间啊。

Ruby 动作轻快地消失了之后，Weiss 这样吐槽。Excel at 表示擅长做些什么事，比起平时的 good at 要厉害些；尽管这里是说 Ruby 不好的地方。

Ruby 为了击退敌人用的是火焰弹让森林烧起来，这个又被 Weiss 看不上。Weiss 说话果然很文绉绉，exercise caution 还不够还要是 even the slightest amount.

Ruby 说 Weiss 你又不是完美的，而 Weiss 回答说虽然我不完美但还是比你强。Leagues 也是等级或者层次的意思，加在 better 前面显得程度更甚。

Pyrrha 和 Jaune 寻找圣遗物倒是却只是找到了戮兽。后悔都要到了碾碎灵魂的程度，那么其他表示感受的词语也可以这样来形容吧。

我早就超越了担忧，负面意义上的。

在被飞行的戮兽带往空中的时候，Ruby 让 Weiss 不要担心，而 Weiss 早就不只是担心了。其实这句话不太好翻译。far beyond 表示已经不是担忧了，然而可以是好的方向或者还是坏的方向，所以后面还有一个 bad way.

Could every just chill out for two seconds before something crazy happens again?
大家能不能在等下的破事之前冷静两秒钟？

不同队伍的伙伴终于以被戮兽追赶的混乱方式重聚之后，Yang 也有些不耐烦了。Chill out 表示冷静下来，相当于 calm down 吧。不过 something crazy 照直翻译为疯狂的事情就有些拗口了。

都别跟我提起你那战斗方式了。
— Weiss
Weiss 说 Ruby 幼稚之后跟着一连串的吐槽。Get me started on 让我关注到某个事情上面。

Ruby 在向戮兽攻击之前问使用魔法的 Weiss. Make the shot 表示完成这个事情。

看到学生的活跃，Ozpin 也是感慨。Shape up 来表示发展，比起 come 等等要高级些。

Port 的课堂。Otherwise 表示相对的意思，safe 与 treacherous 的对比。Treacherous 也比 dangerous 晦涩一些。至于充满，teem with 比 be filled with 少用一些，而且还有 absolutely 来强调。Love nothing more than to 也是表示强调，和 Ruby 之前那句 “more than anything” 也是类似。

最后，Beowolf 在我纯粹的毅力之下，毫无抵抗之力。

Port 在课堂当中吹嘘自己的过去。Sheer 用来表示纯粹的，而 tenacity 则是刚毅不移。No match for 就是根本不是对手。

Port 在讲述之后，在学生当中寻找自告奋勇的人。Have traits 就变成了 embodiment of these traits, Port 教授说话还是很书面语的。

Ruby 在为准备和戮兽战斗的 Weiss 打气。简单粗暴的 who’s boss, 比起 who’s tougher 还要更加霸气些。

Port 称赞着击败戮兽的 Weiss. 比起 witness, in the presence of 就更加书面语了。

你一直以来就是个麻烦精。你这位置只是浪得虚名。

Weiss 看不过去得到队长位置的 Ruby. Nuisance 表示麻烦的或者讨厌的人，而 earn the position 看肯定或者否定就表示名副其实或者浪得虚名不同的意思了。

Port 教授表示 Weiss 来找他的欢迎。

把你的纠结告诉我吧。

Port 让 Weiss 向他坦白咨询的事情。比起 tell, confess to 也是更加书面。至于 strife 则是矛盾或者冲突，或者是内心里面的纠结吧。

That’s preposterous!
荒谬绝伦！

听到 Weiss 说想成为队长的时候，Port 用的是这样的驳斥。Preposterous 这个词语很少用，看来比起 ridiculous 更甚。

这人从来没有让我走错路。

在表示 Ozpin 如何英明的时候 Port 这么说。Lead someone astray, 让人误入歧途。

Port 向 Weiss 解释她不能成为队长的原因。With all due respect 比起 no offense 已经更加庄重了，虽然通常这么说都已经 offend 别人或者不 respect 别人。至于 is matched only by 则是可以相提并论的意思，用褒贬两种方向的事物进行对比就更加能有对比感。

面对 Port 的驳斥，Weiss 也不吃不下。否定的 that’s not true 不够，even remotely 表示这个和真相一点沾边都没有。

Glynda 对 Janue 说，“我们都不想你被 Beowolf 给打败的吧？”，而 Cardin 显然不同意自己在“我们”里面。这是用来反对别人看法时候的说法。与其说不同意，就直接说这是你自己的看法，并不代表我等等。

看到 Cardin 和队友正在欺负 Velvet, Pyrrha 表示很人渣。Pyrrha 说的这个词真的是太强烈了。

Jaune 向 Ruby 坦白最近的异常行为。Get someone on a leash 本来意思是牢牢控制住，被抓住痛脚了。

Team RWBY 在 Vytal Festival 上面游荡的时候，Weiss 不得不这么感慨。形容事情的量很多的时候可以用上 amount, 但是与其说 tremendous 等等真的表达很大的词语，用 breathtaking 就显得更加形象，都能让人透不过气了；而加上一个 simply 就能更加强调一下。

在 Yang 说自己还是很能把一件好事说得那么无聊的时候，Weiss 打断了她。不是单纯的 quiet 也不是 you quiet, 一个 quiet you 就够镇住场面。

Weiss 觉得有必要带着其他地方来的人游览 Vytal. Solemn duty 认为这事情有必要去做，而且理所当然也很自豪地去做。

Weiss 在批判 Faunus 人。Weiss 这句话其实用了程度很负面的词语。Awful 本身就糟糕了，而 degenerate 就是腐烂掉的人。

Weiss 说得太过分了连 Yang 也听不下去。Necessarily 表示必须的，既然不是必须都是对的那就不全对。

Penny 听到 Ruby 愿意做她朋友之后非常激动。不得不说用 sensational 来表达 great 之类的意思真的是第一次见。

Ruby 问 Weiss, “我们刚认识的时候我也像她这样吗”，然后 Weiss 这么回答。Coordinated 就是有定位的，引申为有理可循可靠的。

面对 Weiss 对 Faunus 人的非难，Blake 开始反驳。Little brat 本来是小坏蛋的意思。

The mere fact that you’d sort that Faunus for that terrorist group, solely based on his species makes you just as much a scoundrel as you believe him to be.
你只是因为他是个 Faunus 人就把他当作恐怖分子；这样想的你也不会比你认为的他好到哪里去。

Blake 的这句话真的不会是平时口语里面能够说出来而且也能让对方明白的吧，结构那么复杂。Mere fact 是“单纯这样的事实”，而 make you as much a scoundrel as 就是“你和你想象中的他一样坏”。Scoundrel 也是坏蛋的意思，为了反驳 Blake 也是用了各种词语了。

战争，流血的那种。自我懂事以来，我祖父的公司就好像是背后贴了靶子一样成为他们的目标。

Weiss 在说起为什么自己那么憎恨 Faunus 人。Have a target painted across the back 这个说法还是很形象的。在背后有箭靶，于是大家都想袭击，就是这样的目标。

Despite being promised equality, the Faunus were subjected to discrimination and hate. Humanity still thought of us as lesser beings.
就算曾经被许诺过平等，Faunus 人还是遭受到歧视与憎恨。人类还是会当我们低人一等。

Blake 和 Sun 在坦白过去的事情。Subjected to 就是遭受到一些对待。其实不一定是不好的事情，subjected to changes 也是表明事情可以变动的意思。至于 lesser being 就是劣等的存在了。

依然是 Blake 对 Sun 的坦白。Aid in 表示帮助，和 assist 一样。

Yang 在和 Weiss 开解不要责难 Blake. Story 不一定是故事，也可以是某些人的看法。

Roman 和 White Fang 又在搞小动作。Not exactly 和 hardly 类似，表示几乎不是。Inconspicuous 则是不引人注目的，而由于之前的活动 Roman 已经曝光，所以他们现在并不是那群最不引人注目的盗贼。

看到 Sun 的乱入，Roman 也是不满。看来 Roman 很喜欢用这样的否定 + 最高级的说法，还要加上个 bunch 的。

而看到 Ruby 的乱入，Roman 更是不耐烦。看到别人还没睡大概可以这样问候吧。
